Sweet Baby

A friend of mine needed a baby card and asked if I would make her one. Not knowing the sex of the baby, I decided to use a bunch of different colors. I love this polka dot glittery paper by Doodlebug Designs.

The lavendar paper is by Bazzell Basics Bling. I thought the shimmer in the paper went well with the glittery polka dots. I used the Labels Two nestabilities to cut out Lemon Tart and Stampers Select. Next I stamped the baby feet in lemon tart and added the sentiment from the mega mixed messages set in plum pudding. I think this card is adorable that I'm going to need to make another for my stash.
Thanks for stopping by.

Life and Birthday Basics

I just love this stamp set. This card was inspired by Lisa Johnson's tubbler insert she did when previewing her new set "Life".

I just starting stamping away trying to add different colors and also adding a little sparkle to parts of the flowers and buds. The card base is ripe avocado, I stamped on kraft and matted it with true black. I didn't want to add anything else to the card like ribbon, brads, buttons, I think it would have taken away from the image.

Stamps: Life and Birthday Basics
Ink: true black, Tombow markers
Paper: ripe avocado, true black, kraft
other: glitter
Finished Size: 4 1/4" x 5 1/2"

March Blog Hop

This is my first blog hop and I'm really excited to be able to participate. This is the card I created by making my own background.

For the top of the card I used kraft cardstock with the Damask Designs set stamped in Vintage Cream. The bottom half I used the Background Basic: Stars collection stamped with Anne Griffin ink (sorry the color was not marked on the cube) on vintage cream cardstock. I used the oval nestabilities in straight and scallopped and the stamp is from Garden of Life. Vintage cream twill ribbon was added along with some buttons from my stash. Thanks for stopping by.

Another Birthday Wishes

For this little number I used the Life stamp set by PTI and some water color markers. For me, this is the first time working with markers and I am so loving the effect they give you especially with this set.

I added some crystle fine glitter with a glue pen to the center of the flower and cut out the oval using my nestabilities and added it the scallopped oval I punched out with my Marvy punch.

Stamps: Life and Faux Ribbon for the sentiment
Ink: true black, Tombows markers
Paper: kraft, vintage cream, ocean tides, and My Mind's Eye
Other: oval Nestabilities, scallopped punch, melon berry twill ribbon, foam pop-ups.

Birthday wishes

I've been playing around with some of my new goodies I purchased from PTI. I love the Life stamp set by Lisa Johnson. The possibilities are endless when working with this set. I was disappointed when I opened the Guidelines Two set because my guideline stamp was messed up. Half of the stamp is all foggy on the underside and will not stick to the block. I've never had this happen to me before. I've read that this has happened to other folks so I'm waiting to hear from customer service to see what I need to do to get a replace stamp.

I so wanted to play with that set this weekend since I had the time. Next weekend I'll be doing some spring cleaning cause we have our annual spring clean up which mean if there's anything you want to throw out that can't be picked up with your regular garbage this is the time to put it out at the curb. For instance I've got an old old dresser (not worth keeping), an old TV, a TV stand, boxes of stuff and I still have to go through the garage and the cellar. That same weekend I'll be having all the family over to celebrate my parents birthdays which are a week apart. The following weekend I'm going out of town with my sister and her family for a little R & R and the weekend after that is Easter. Hopefully I'll get some play time during the week.

Ok, enough of that, now on to my project.

Here I used the new PTI color Hibiscus Burst and the new stamp set Life. I never worked with markers before so I went to my local scrapbook store and picked up a few. These markers are from Towbow. I've heard so much about the Copic markers but I had to take what I could get my hands on at the time. I do like how the markers give it a watercolor effect. I grabbed my Cuttlebug Tiny Tags set and stamped the birthday wishes on it and attached it to the ribbon with a metal ring.

I used the Heidi Swapp edge distresser around the stampers white cardstock and matted it to some spring moss cardstock. I then tied it up with some Hibiscus Burst satin ribbon and attached it to the Hibiscus Burst card. For a final touch I added alittle sparkle to the buds with some Martha Stewart crystal fine glitter and glue pen.

Stamps: Life and Mixed Messages
Ink: True Black, Tombox markers
Paper: Stampers Select White, Hibiscus Burst and Spring Moss
Other: Hibuscis Burst satin ribbon, Martha Stewart crystal fine glitter, glue pen, Cuttlebug tiny Tags, Heidi Swapp edge distresser
Finished size: 4 1/4" x 5 1/2"

Wishing you joy

This card is so bright and cheery. I love PTI's Polka Dot Basics, it's one of those stamps sets I want to use all the time.

The flower is made with some red felt I had in my stash along with Cuttlebug's flower dies finishing it off with the green button that I tied with some white floss. The sentiment is from Heartfelt Basics where I mixed Spring Moss ink with Pure Poppy. I used scallopped scissors to cut the bottom of the Spring Moss cardstock and added a few score lines to the top.

Stamps: Polka Dot Basics and Heartfelt Basics
Ink: Fresh Snow, Spring Moss and Pure Poppy
Paper: Pure Poppy, Spring Moss and Stampers Select White
Other: Trio Tag, Pure Poopy Ribbon, white floss, button, scallopped scissors and Score Pal.

This project uses My Mind's Eye Tres Jolie collection. The ocean tides ribbon coordinates really well with this patterened paper. For the focal image the birthday sentiment is from Stampin Up and the background stamp I paid $1.00 for at a local craft store. I used the square plain and scallopped nestabilities and made it pop with some foam pop ups. I added some pearls for a finishing touch.

Stamps: Stampin Up, Whispers from Sugarloaf
Ink: Aqua Mist and Ripe Avocado
Paper: My Mind's Eye Tres Jolie collection, Ocean Tides by PTI.
Other: Ocean Tides twill ribbon, pearls from Kaires Scrapbook, square nestabilities

More Masculine cards

Here are just a few more masculine birthday cards that I've been working on to fill my sister's order.

I was able to get my order in for the Guidelines Two stamp set before it was sold out. I'm waiting for that to come in so I can work on a few more masculine cards to finish my sister's order. In the meantime I need to get working on the 13 female cards she wants and a few other projects I'm working on.

March 18, 2009

This card reminds me of spring with all the different pastel colors.

I was inspired by Michelle Wooderson when doing the tree. I love visiting her blog, she does some amazing work.

I used the largest scallopped long nestabilities to make the card base from spring rain cardstock. I had to run it thru my Cuttlebug a few times to make sure it cut all the way thru both layers of cardstock. I matted my focal image onto lemon tart cardstock where I stamped a scallopped image and dots from Beyond Basic Borders stamp set. I stamped the dots using a glue pad and added some lavender glitter.

The tree image is from Beyond Basic Borders stamped in spring moss. For the pastel dots on the tree I used the circle from Around and About stamp set and accented them with a little sparkled by using a clear glitter pen from Spica.

Stamps: Beyond Basic Borders, Around and About
Ink: spring moss, sweet blush, lavender moon, lemon tart, aqua mist and true black
Paper: spring rain, lemon tart and select stampers white
Other: nestabilities, glitter, ribbon, corner rounder punch
Finished Size: 3" x 6 1/4"

Masculine Card

My other sister put her order in for birthday cards for the year. She wants 9 masculine cards. I just have a hard time do manely cards but I'll share a few with you that I've completed so far.

For this card I used Making Memories pp, Stampin Up sentiment, PTI Dark Chocolate cardstock, square Nestabilities and brads.

I chose to use My Mind's Eye pp; PTI Background Basics: Stars and Around and About stamps, Ripe Avocado ink and paper for this card.

I tried to use earth tone colors when making these cards. I love the My Mind's Eye pp and this one worked well with the Ocean Tides and Dark Chocolate colors. I used my Scor Pal to add some texture to the top of the card.

Thinking of you

For this card I made a template for the wave. I started with a card from summer sunrise, traced the wave and cut out, then I made another wave from pure poppy but this one I cut just alittle longer and used scallopped scissors to cut it out. I used my crimper for the spring moss and attached it to the bottom of the inside of the card. Using the Around and About stamp set I made a wave out of the long sentiment to match the wave in the card.
Got my straight and scallopped nestabilities out and cut a die from pure poppy and stampers white cardstock. I added a little jewel to the center of the flower. For the top front of the card I used the vine stamp from Beyond Basic Borders and stamped it with versamark. The little flowers are from the Around and About set where I added a little sparkle using the Spica clear glitter pen.

I think I will be sending this card to my sister in Florida just to let her know I'm thinking of her and miss her bunches.

Happy Monday to everyone!

Supplies used:
Stamps: Around and About; Beyond Basic Borders.
Ink: Pupre Poppy, Spring Moss, Summer Sunrise, versmark.
Paper: Summer Sunrise, Pure Poppy, Spring Moss, Stampers White.

My Storage System

I'd like to share a few photos of how I storage some of my craft supplies.

I keep all my nestabilities in CD cases and labeled the top as to what shape is inside.

I put one magnet strip on each side of the case to hold them in place.

My ribbon is separated by color with the exception of the two jars on the right which has my PTI ribbon. I like to keep them separate from the other ribbon so when I'm working with PTI colors (which I having been using alot) I don't have to go digging for them.

My button and floral jars I keep on a shelf above my work area. They are all separated by color.

These jars I had when I used to make and sell my own candles. I purchased them from a company I used to order all my candle supplies through.

I have 24 white photo boxes that I keep alot of my supplies in. They are all labeled which makes access fast and easy. No more digging for stuff.

So these are just a few ways I like to keep myself organized. I have to admit I did get some of my ideas for Nichole Heady's studio. She was the one who inspired me to redo my craft room and get it organized, so a big thank you goes out to her.

PTI Storage

Here are some photos of how I storage my PTI goodies.

For my stamp sets I have them set up in catagories. This system works for me. If I'm looking for a floral set or background set I know exactly where to find it.

It looks like I'll need to get another container soon. I got this CD basket at Ikea for about $5.00.

I keep all my PTI cardstock together in this storage cube I purchased at Target.

Right now I buy the ink cubes, however, I have been replacing some of the more used colors in the pads. I stamp a floral image from Garden of Life with the color of the cube, punch it out and glue it to the top of the lid. This really helps me when I need to find a color, I don't have to turn the cube over to see the name. I store them a plastic bead container I purchased at a craft store.

Here is how I storage my PTI ribbon. I used Nichole's method of storing the ribbon around clothes pins. The containers I had purchased at Dollar General a few years back. One jar has the darker ribbon and the other has the lighter ribbon.

Check back tomorrow when I'll show you how I storage some of my other craft supplies.

Beyond Basic Borders

I kinda lifted this one from a card Melissa Phillips did. I hope she doesn't mind but I really liked her card and I just happened to have that pp from Melissa Frances.

I used stampers select white and sweet blush cs, lavendar moon and Color Box Celadon ink. I found that the Celadon goes very well with aqua mist. I'm not crazy about the aqua mist ink. Anyway I did a little zigzag stitch, added some white buttons from my stash and tied them with some coordinating floss. I'd like to get the floss in all the PTI colors. I'm about half way there. I used the scallop and plain circle nestabilities, added a little pearl to the center of the flower and aqua mist twill ribbon. I love how you can keep going and going this that leave border.

A little vintage damask

I really like how this card turned out. I think it has alittle vintage feel to it.

I used PTI damask design stamp set, kraft and vintage cream cs, spring moss and vintage cream ink. The flower I had in my stash along with the button which I added some floss that matches the spring moss. I finished it off with some lace and sweet blush twill ribbon and did a zigzig stitch at the top. I also used the large corner rounder punch by EK success.

Recipe Label

Now this card I made for my father for his birthday. I find it very difficult to make masculine cards. I got this idea from a card DebbieOlson made. By the way my parents birthdays are one week part.

I used the Label from the Recipe set stamped on Vintage cream cs in ocean tides and the happy birthday from the birthday basics set stamped in dark chocolate. I matted it with ocean tides and dark chocolate cs. The pp is from My Mind's Eye Tres Jolie collection. I lalso added a brad on each end of the label.

Damask Design

I made this card for my mother for her birthday. The photo didn't come out as well as I'd hoped.

I used PTI Damask Design, which is one of my new favs. The damask is embossed with glitter. It doesn't show up very well in the photo but very pretty IRL. I used PTI Spring Moss, Vintage Cream and Melon Berry cardstock, Spring Moss ink for the birthday wishes and for the subtle damask behind it I inked up with Melon Berry and stamped most of the ink off then added new canvas ink to get the right hue. I used the Labels 2 nestabilites and embossed the edges then added some pearls to the corners and dimensionals to the back. I also added some spring moss ribbon.

I like to use Scotch brand pop-up foam squares in the 1/8 inch size. It doesn't make to card to stiff when using them.

Stop back tomorrow, I'll have another PTI card posted.

Beyond Basic Borders

I love this set and how well it goes with the Rustic Branches. For this card I combined a little of each set along with a little flower from Little Lady set and also added pearls to the center of the flower.
Everything fromPTI except the pearls. Kraft, Ripe Avocado, Melon Berry, Vintage Cream cardstock
Vintage cream, Melon Berry and Versamark ink
Vintage Cream Twill ribbon

St. Patrick's Day

Everything to make this card is from PTI with the exception of the jewels. I used the Labels 2 from Nestabilities, before I removed the paper with the clover on it from the die I trimmed the border with a Spica glitter marker in gold. It doesn't show up that well in the photo.
